Now, back to your regular scheduled programming. This course was the start of my European coaching journey if you like. I did the course in February when I first moved to the UK, and although I already had seven years coaching experience in Australia, I had planned to restart my coaching badges once out in the UK, as I assumed the quality of courses would be much better. In Australia I had completed grassroots courses for all age groups from under sixes to mens, as well as my Asia C License which I did in 2018. This translates to Level 1 in the UK. So, even though I didn’t have to do the Level 1 course, I wanted to. I assumed the teaching techniques etc would be slightly different and felt being on the same page would stand me in good stead for the Level 2 through 5 courses or C Licence to Pro.
The course ran for four weeks and cost 160 pounds. It took approximately one day per week to do all the coursework as well as go down a few rabbit holes along the way. This then led to a webinar at the end of each week. As this is a course aimed at new coaches, it was more focused on younger age groups in terms of Session Planning, First Aid, and Safeguarding. I will go into more detail of the three topics in terms of what I learnt.
