GAME LOG FOR 23/24 SEASON
This is the precursor to all the next articles I have coming out. After all, why would you listen to me if I haven’t put in the hours to back it up? My goal was to watch one game a day this season which from Round 1 of the Premier League to the final nail biting day was 282 days. Minus roughly 4 weeks or 28 days for international breaks gives us 254. I managed to watch 227 full matches including the two European Cup finals still to go. Roughly 500 hours of football or 21 full days of my life have been spent watching football this season. This does not include amateur/lower league games, all of my own games or juniors games that I have watched, whenever we have been able to VEO them. In Australia I was lucky to watch one game a week as I couldn’t mess up my sleep schedule with how busy I was. As much as there is greater opportunity to coach and work in football over here, this alone and how it has helped me become a better coach, has been worth the move.
I’m not sure I will attempt this again next season as it was a lot of hours, but it definitely helped me take a massive leap forward in terms of tactics, substitution, managers rotation policies, vibes/storylines around clubs and how that impacts the on pitch product and press conferences. All things I need to be keenly aware of if I want to make it as a top manager.
I have ordered the competitions by most games watched so we have in order; EPL-144, UCL-31, FA Cup-16, Europa League-15, League Cup-7 , England Women- 3, England Men-2 , Club World Cup-2, Europa Conference League-2, Bundesliga-1 , Serie A-1 , League One-1. I also managed to watch live for the first time games in the EPL, Europa League, League Cup, Euro Qualifying and League One. My favourite games I got to go to this season were: Spurs vs City 0-2 for the second last game of the season (had to sit in the Spurs end), West Ham vs Arsenal 3-1 in the League Cup and England vs Italy 3-1 at Wembley when they qualified for the Euros.

I also have a few other articles I’m hoping to get done over summer holidays here when I will be off work.
